What is a Cube Root (Page 5/7)

(Contiued from page 4 )

Note : If the one side of a cube is doubled, the volume will increase by 8 (2*2*2) times.
If the one side of a cube is tripled, the volume will increase by 27 (3*3*3) times and so on.
The perfect Cube never ends with two zeros ('00')

Question - Type 6 - Find the cube root of -27

Answer - 6-  Make the factors i.e.
 -27= (-3)*(-3)*(-3)= therefore cube root is -3
The cube root of -ve number is always -ve.

Question - Type 7 - Find the volume of the cube whose surface area is 600 sqM.

Answer - 1- The surface area of a cube = 6*L*L (where L is length of one side)
 Therefore 6*L*L=600

 L*L=100 M therefore L=10 M
 The cube volume = L*L*L = 10*10*10

 Volume= 1000 cubic M
